Depression/Suicide Focused Assessment

School Wellness Screenings provide a non-intrusive way to assess and assist students.  While a complete School Wellness Assessment will look at 7 specific areas including anger, depression, child abuse and substance use, a Student Depression/ Suicide Focused Screening will look specifically at every student's ability to manage the stress in their life.  It will look at their coping strategies and determine whether each student has ample coping skills for the level of stress in their life.  All students within a school or school district will take this online 30 question assessment.  If students score within the high-risk range, they will be identified in a thorough confidential report given to the school administrator.

WSA Screenings are created by a Master's level counselor who has worked in the field of child/adolescent counseling and education for over 20 years.

The WSA Assessor works closely with every school assisting with the notification of student's parents/guardians and being available to answer any questions about the screening from administrators, parents and students.  Once the assessment is completed and high-risk students are identified, WSA will help school counselors in locating local, state and national resources for every student.

There are four levels of Student Depression/Suicide Focused Assessments.  All four levels of Depression/Suicide Focused Assessments are similar however the time frame in which the screening is given varies from quarterly to one-time only assessments.  As the frequency of the assessment increases so does the likelihood of preventing student from harming themselves.  Once the assessment is completed by the students, a Master's level WSA Assessor will analyze the information and provide a detailed report to the School Administrator.  This information is considered highly confidential and will not be shared with anyone except this individual.  The designated Administrator can then provide the report to the appropriate staff to ensure every student is assisted.
