The Proactive Collection

What do the statistics tell us.

Workplace Violence is a constant issue that plagues the United States. One of the most common forms of violence in the workplace is psychological in nature. Bullying, intimidation and verbal threats are the least reported  on the job but the most common forms of workplace violence. According to Federal Bureau of Statistics, 80% of active shooter incidents occur on the job. Approximately 2 million people a year are affected by some form of workplace violence.

Surprisingly, workplace violence is not always about work related issues. Most people assume that disgruntled workers are usually the culprit for a tragic event. However, that is not necessarily the case. As reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in two-thirds of workplace fatalities, the attacker has no known personal relationship with any of the victims. Assailants are not angry with other employees or employers but instead struggling with divorce, mental health issues, financial challenges or death of loved ones.  When all of the perpetrator's life stressors are compounded by the increasing expectations of the workplace, the lack of coping skills become more and more apparent.  If an employee has not developed ways in which to destress then a meltdown is often unavoidable.

 

Well-being Safety Assessments provide employee screenings to help identify those individuals who are struggling with anger, suicidal tendencies, depression, mental illness, and drug/alcohol abuse.  A simple online questionnaire is provided to every employee and can make the difference between  a normal workday and a tragic event.

 

Screenings can be done annually, biannually or quarterly to ensure all employees are screened in a timely manner.
