Adrienne Bullock, a 14 year veteran elementary teacher provides five amazing videos that align with the 5-core SEL competencies. Students will learn self-awareness, relationship skills, social interaction, self-management and responsible decision-making.  Whether you decide to play a video every morning before class starts, during inside recess or for a specified group of children, these instructional videos will become a PROACTIVE START to improving your school's atmosphere.  

Turning a negative situation into a positive situation can be difficult for many adults but for children, a hard morning can mean an impossible school day.  These 5-short videos promote the 5-SEL core competencies beginning with how to change your emotions and make an impact on your day.  School districts are encouraged to play the videos before school begins, in the counseling office and in the hallway.  WSA wants students to recognize the problem before it even becomes one. Engraining the solutions into our students will give them the skills needed in today's world. 

They say it takes 7 positive affirmations to eliminate just one negative comment from a loved one.  Our students are often overwhelmed with negativity from friends as well as their family.  As educators, we can counteract this with this video series that focuses on the 5-core competencies of social-emotional learning.  Let's create an atmosphere of positivity and remind our students of all their strengths as they progress each and every day.

There are many reasons why some students do not have good hygiene.  It can be busy parents, students getting themselves ready in the morning, or even an abuse situation.  Regardless of the reason, personal hygiene is often difficult for our teachers to discuss and even more difficult for our students to hear.  The Personal Hygiene series talks to every child about the importance of self-care.  It doesn't single out anyone making them feel uncomfortable but does remind them what needs to be done to stay healthy, including reporting abuse to a trusted adult.

Approaching life by seeing the glass as half-full instead of half-empty should be the goal for all of us.  Searching for the positives instead of focusing on all that wrong is the main goal of this video series.  Students will learn to solve conflicts, ask for help when needed and take initiative with these simple short videos that focus on the 5-core competencies of Social-Emotional Learning.
